From handwritten notes to winning goals, your Sal’s Shoes have been stepping into new adventures in Ghana.
In partnership with Akwaaba Volunteers, our latest distributions reached children in Accra – from toddlers taking their first confident steps to young athletes building skills, strength and self-belief on the netball court and football pitch.
Four-year-old Olivia in England sent her sparkly Sal’s Shoes with a simple wish – that they’d find new feet. They did. They now belong to 3-year-old Christiana, who lives nearly 5,000 miles away on the coast of West Africa.
Two-year-old Nancy sent a note with her pink Crocs. Her message made it to 18-month-old Kendrick – and judging by her smile, they’re already well-loved.
On the netball court, 7-year-old Esther is the youngest player in Akwaaba’s girls’ coaching sessions. She’s now training in Lydia and Hannah’s donated shoes – and carrying their message with her: “We hope these shoes find new feet and new adventures.”
And on the pitch, worn-through football boots have been replaced with your outgrown pairs. Akwaaba Volunteers’ Street 2 School sports programme supports children through sport and education – because a kit that fits is a kit that inspires.
Beyond the smiles, this work has serious impact. Sport is a powerful tool to challenge gender inequality, promote education, and protect children from child labour, abuse and early marriage.
Thanks to you, your Sal’s Shoes are doing far more than covering feet. They’re helping change futures – one step, sprint and school day at a time.
