CJ Bowry

Founder
In 2013, unable to find a charity that could tell her where exactly her son Sal’s outgrown shoes would find their new feet if she donated them, CJ founded Sal’s Shoes. To date, in 9 years, the charity has now distributed over 4,000,000 pairs of shoes in 59 countries around the world.

Claudia Goy

U.K. Logistics
Claudia was one of our first volunteers, helping with the sorting and packing of incoming shoes when Sal’s Shoes was started in a garage. Her background in international shipping and logistics has stood her in good stead since becoming more involved with the administration of Sal’s Shoes and in particular the finding of new feet across the U.K. In her free time Claudia is most likely to be found in the Surrey countryside walking her two dogs or pounding the streets in her running shoes.

Georgiee Rodriques

Communication & Design
Georgiee came into Sal’s life before he could even walk - and 15 years on, she now heads up communications and design at Sal’s Shoes. Mum to Savanna and Tallie, she loves being part of a small charity doing mighty things!

Caz o’Kane

Grant Funding
It took just one phone call with CJ for Caz to be hooked on Sal’s Shoes - and more than two years’ later she’s still here.  A fundraiser for the past 20 years, Caz is loving telling the Sal’s Shoes story to funders big and small.  When she’s not persuading charitable trusts to give Sal’s Shoes a grant, Caz can be found walking her dog on the Sussex downs, sea-swimming in Brighton and being mum to three (perpetually hungry) teenage boys.

Claire Joy

Brand Partnerships
With a desire to help others and make a difference in our world, Claire has recently joined the team at Sal’s Shoes and works in brand partnerships. With a background in product development, she has spent many years working for apparel and footwear brands and will be using her knowledge and connections to build relationships. Based in the Oxfordshire countryside, when Claire’s not supporting her girls from the football sidelines, she loves nothing more than disappearing off to far flung shores with her family and exploring the world.

Mark Tantam

Chair of Trustees
A comparative newcomer to the Sal’s family, Mark came on board in 2021 to help CJ and the team strengthen the financial processes that underpin the organisation.  He now sees every day the impact that this charity is making on so many young lives both in the UK across the world. As he says “it is immensely humbling”.

Russell Dixon-Box

Trustee
Russell has two children, Holly and Humphrey, and is an investment professional who also works as a director of his family's hotel business in Bournemouth. Russell and his hotel have been very active in charity fundraising for a number of years. Russell brings his fundraising and hospitality experience to Sal’s Shoes.

John Roundhill

Trustee
John heard CJ on national radio in 2019 and was so impressed he contacted CJ and agreed to start volunteering before she left the BBC studio.  Now living in the South West he can no longer help at HQ each week but is thrilled to have joined the Board of Trustees.  John is a Headhunter and ex Trustee of another charity with a similar solution based approach.

Sarah Nelson Smith

Trustee
Jossie and Sal have been buddies from the start. Sarah visited the Snehalayam orphanage in India with her then 5 year old to take shoes for all of the boys, and knew immediately that she wanted to do more to support Sal’s Shoes. Sarah brings commercial and strategic insight, together with a strong desire to make positive change.
